Everything and nothing has changed. As I pause to reflect on the year that was, I can't help but think of the forgotten goals, the lessons learnt and the baby steps taken towards living and loving better, growing muscles of compassion for those whose experiences are different from mine, and hopefully making sense of a lonely yet chaotic existence.
While some managed to make the best of the year gone by, some of us couldn’t be quicker to wish it away. You know, sometimes, staying hydrated and eating healthy are just not enough when you experience half a dozen blows.
Our loved ones, those we couldn’t say our final goodbyes to, became an addition to statistics. Suddenly, death gave meaning to life.
We even rediscovered words like ‘languishing’. Perhaps, it just helps to have a term for an experience or to know that others are feeling the same way, and that you’re not alone or weird.
If you’re feeling stagnant or worthless...
Don’t be silly. I know you tried.
